- What We Do
Dedicated to granting the special wishes of children with high-risk life-threatening illnesses, The Children’s Wish Foundation is the only national Canadian organization of this type. The Foundation knows many children whose time is limited. Our goal for these special children is to let them realize the joy of their fondest wish coming true. To the families, it provides a positive, happy experience and lasting memories that will be cherished for a lifetime.
- The Wishes
The wishes are as individual as the children who make them. A request for a computer, a desire to meet a famous celebrity, or a longing to travel to a special place; whatever the wish, we will do our utmost to make it come true. In some instances, the Foundation is given only a day or a week to complete the arrangements. We take pride in the dedication of our efforts to meet the needs of each special situation.
- The Foundation
To date, the Alberta/NWT Chapter has granted over 900 wishes; at a national level over 12,000 wishes have been granted. The funds to underwrite these wishes have all been raised without assistance from government agencies, and we are not affiliated with an umbrella organization (i.e. United Way). All of our funding has been through individual donations from the public, from fundraising events supported by the public and the local corporate community. We ensure the maximum amount of each dollar goes to the wishes.
